Time for one more run out at Brunton Park before David Mitchell gets his lawn back for the summer and the ground improvement works can begin in earnest.

This year the customary good natured pitch invasion is unlikely with little to cheer, but before harrumphing and making for the exits after a miserable campaign, let’s remember that this is also the last time we will see a number of these players, either on the team sheet or just perambulating at full time thanking the fans for their support.

Yes, this has been a rough season all around, but please let’s not forget a number of those who we may not see grace the hallowed turf again were integral parts of that ‘Weekend in Paradise’ back in May 2023 and the season that preceded it.

They deserve a send-off for their roles in that highlight of our recent history. Whatever came after, our appreciation of that achievement is warranted before they disappear to whichever corners of the footballing world they find themselves in for the next chapters of their careers.

Speaking of which, the Scandinavian Branch of the Carlisle United Supporters Club will be making their regular pilgrimage to Brunton Park for the Wycombe game. Paal and his fellow Blues will be joining us from Norway.

They have been supporting the club for over 20 years and have attended more than 50 matches over those two decades. Look out for them on Saturday around the Fanzone and I’m sure they will be happy to chat with more, shall we say, ‘local’ fans.

As the season draws to a close and with some football downtime, CUOSC will be interrogating the results of our recent survey and looking as we do, to continually improve our membership offering for the 2024/25 season.

The survey may be closed but our inbox is always open for suggestions (info@cuosc.org.uk).
