Good Friday’s outstanding performance at Peterborough was sadly, but surely the final false dawn of what has been an ‘season horribilis.’

Come 5pm on Easter Monday, rather than a potential resurrection, the final death knell was all but rung. Only a great escape combining the Houdiniesque talents of Jimmy Glass, Simmo 2022 and Steve McQueen will do.

All hope is not gone until maths says so, but the rotund female vocalist is very much at the mic and we are only gently tapping on the window to be allowed into the unlikely lock-in after hours in the last chance saloon.

So, with a confirmed immediate return to the basement imminent, it really will be about trying to restore some pride and belief to take into next season. With the shackles released, we may still see a positive result or two before the end of the month and maybe throw a spanner in the works at both ends of the table.

Bank Holiday Monday also saw CUOSC’s inaugural Retro Kit Day and the response from fans was fantastic. The weather meant many were hidden under warm coats, but there was still a kaleidoscope of United kits from down the years.

We’ve played in a majority of the colours of the rainbow at one time or another and most if not all were on display.

Fans really engaged with the idea and social media was awash with posts about what kit fans were choosing from their collections.

The judging panel had real difficulty in choosing our four winners to take part in the half time cross bar challenge. All deserving of the club shop voucher prizes for their efforts.

Hopefully this will become an annual event, and preferably in better weather conditions!

This week also saw the closure of our online survey on the future of CUOSC. We received 1,130 responses which is very pleasing, so thank you to everyone, both members and non members who took the time to complete it.

We will be analysing the results and sharing the findings in the coming weeks. We may even share some of the ‘hilarious’ suggestions!

Visit our website www.cuosc.org.uk to join and be a part of that CUOSC future. It currently costs £10 for an adult and £5 for seniors and under-18s

Finally, everyone at CUOSC would like to pass on our congratulations and very best wishes to United Directors, Jenna and Nick, who tie the knot in New York this weekend.

We look forward to welcoming the new Mr & Mrs DeMasi back to Brunton Park in the near future. We hope that you and both your families have a wonderful time.
