Max Kilsby tasted victory for the first time in a Queen of the South shirt – while Kai Nugent featured in another win in Annan Athletic’s attempted great escape.

Carlisle United’s loan duo were back in action in Scottish League One on Saturday.

Defender Kilsby was in the Queens defence for their trip to Alloa Athletic.

It saw Kilsby on the winning side with the Dumfries outfit at the seventh attempt during his half-season loan with Marvin Bartley’s men, who sit eighth after the win against third-placed hosts who included the former United midfielder Stefan Scougall.

Queens remain three points ahead of Annan after Nugent came off the bench in a 3-2 win over Kelty Hearts.

The young Blues midfielder, 19, came on in the 80th minute as Peter Murphy’s side saw out victory at Galabank.

It was a 21st appearance of the season for Nugent as Annan led 3-1 at the break after goals from Aidan Smith, Lewis Hunter and Benjamin Luissint, Michael Tidser and Craig Johnston hitting back for Kelty either side of half-time.
