Carlisle United's trip to Barnsley next weekend has been postponed.

The game has been shelved because of international call-ups in the Tykes squad,

United were due to take on the Yorkshire side at Oakwell on Saturday, November 18.

But now the League One game will have to be rearranged.

It will leave the Cumbrians without a game next weekend.

And it means their next game will be the visit of Charlton Athletic to Brunton Park on November 25.

That game has long been mentioned as a potential landmark date in the takeover process involving the Piatak family at United.

Carlisle said of the Barnsley postponement: "We were informed of the postponement after Barnsley submitted their team sheet from Saturday's game against Derby County.

"A new date for this fixture will be confirmed in due course which will include details on ticket returns."

Barnsley, in a statement, said: "We can confirm that our clash with Carlisle United has been postponed due to international call-ups within the Reds squad.

"Devante Cole, Jon Russell, Callum Styles and Fábio Jaló have now all been confirmed as selected for their respective nations ahead of the November international fixtures.

"Our fixture with the Blues - originally set for Saturday 18 November - will now be rescheduled.

"All tickets remain vaild for the rearranged fixture. The new date of the game will be communicated in due course. A full refund will be available on original tickets up until the kick-off of the fixture.

"We wish all of our players out on international duty the best of luck."
