Schoolchildren from Carlisle were given a lesson in lifesaving from sea rescuers.

Almost 30 pupils from St Bedes Primary School in Raffles visited Silloth RNLI lifeboat station.

A spokeswoman said: “The children were given a brief insight into the running of the lifeboat station and the work and training undertaken by the crew.

“They asked lots of good questions while sat onboard the Atlantic 85 B-Class lifeboat.

“They kept crewmen Andrew Stanley and Dan Ware on their toes.

“They then had the opportunity to see all the kit worn at sea and were delighted when we suggested one of the teachers should try it all on.”
