BRUNTON Park will have a very different look when it welcomes football-mad Sir Rod Stewart and one of its biggest crowds in years.

The pitch at Carlisle United's ground has been lifted ahead of the music legend's eagerly-anticipated concert on Tuesday night and of work starting to get the ground ready for next season.

Meanwhile, a number of production seats that have not previously been for sale are up for grabs.

Concert promoters Cuffe and Taylor are offering the £55 tickets via www.ticketline.co.uk. Anyone who buys them them will be able to collect them at the Brunton Park ticket office until 9pm on Tuesday.

Director Peter Taylor said: “This is a great opportunity for fans who feel they may have missed out to snap up some absolutely fantastic tickets.

"We anticipate the tickets won’t be around for long so we would urge anyone who wishes to snap them up to take up this offer."

Among the thousands of fans who will pack out Brunton Park will be flood heroes who have been given tickets by the superstar through The Cumberland News as a thank-you for their efforts in the aftermath of Storm Desmond.

After the concert, United's grounds staff will start the huge task of readying the pitch for next season.
