Recently published data suggests that Cumbria Police are one of the best in the country when it comes to burglary response times.

Data, attained through a Freedom of Information request, has assessed the average burglary response time by police forces in the UK.

In some areas, such as Durham, Northamptonshire and Devon and Cornwall, victims of burglary had an average response time of over 20 hours in 2022/23.

Cumbria has consistently ranked as one of the best in the country, with a 2022/23 average of 1.16.14 compared to 1.10.02 in 2021/22.

However, that time has increased from 2020/21, when the average response time was just 44.21.

Only Bedfordshire (14.59), Humberside (49.40) and Merseyside (1.00.13) recorded quicker response times in the country.

Data taken from between 2021 and 2022 suggested that the rate of burglaries in Cumbria had risen 25%.

The most recent Police.uk stats, taken from February 2024, show that there were only six burglaries reported in central Carlisle.
