CUMBRIA Police responded to reports of a group of youths using a motorised pushbike.
Officers in Carlisle found the vehicle dumped in the street.
They have warned the public against using these types of bikes as they are illegal and can be highly dangerous.
A spokesperson said: "Following reports of young lads riding a motorised push bike PCSO 5416 arrived and found this contraption dumped in the street.
"This homemade motorcycle had been adapted to use the rear brake lever as a clutch leaving the original front brake as the only way to stop the bike. Given this has the potential to go 20-30 mph using small rubber pads on the wheel is not going to be sufficient to stop.
"These bikes are not only dangerous but illegal to ride on public roads.
"This bike was taken away by officers and inquiries into the owner/supplier of these bikes are ongoing.
"Any information that could help with our inquiries would be much appreciated and can be given via 101, online submissions through our website, or anonymously by crime stoppers."
