A community meet and greet event wil be held in Carlisle later this month.

Houghton Village Hall will serve as the venue for the event which aims to raise the profile of various community groups involved, as well as activities in the parish area – Stanwix Rural Parish Council.

This is also a chance for members of the public to engage with the council directly.

Almost 20 groups have been confirmed for the event, including the council itself and Cumberland Council’s ‘local engagement team’.

Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Houghton Church, Susan’s Farm, Carlisle Scouts, and the Cumbrian Magic Circle are some other groups which have confirmed their attendance.

Cumbria Constabulary has been invited but has not confirmed its attendance.

The event will take place on April 24 from 7pm to 9pm.

“The event will provide an opportunity for local people to discover what’s going on in their community while also having a chance to discuss local issues over tea or coffee - or a glass of wine.

“Members of the public attending will qualify for entry into a free prize draw,” a spokesperson from Stanwix Rural Parish Council said.
