A discount shop in Penrith has closed ahead of schedule.
The Works, located on Devonshire Street which sells arts, crafts, books and toys, closed its doors to the public yesterday (April, 15).
In a post on social media, a spokesperson posted: "Unfortunately, the company has made the decision to close the store early and today, (April, 15) is our last trading day.
"It is sad news for all of us.
"Thanks for all your support and wishing us a bright future.
"We will miss the store and our lovely customers," a spokesperson said.
In January, a spokesperson for the company said that while the store was closing, no jobs would be lost: "All current employees will be relocated to nearby stores such as Carlisle and Kendal".
Since the beginning of 2024, the Chopping Block, Wild Ivy Floral Design (with a move to online), Ruby Rae’s, Cafe V along with the town's Barclays, Halifax and Lloyd's banks have all announced closures.
