A NEW family run café in Cleator Moor is set to open its doors on May 4.

Hunger Hero is a family business spearheaded by Linda Connors, 48, along with her daughters - Charlotte, 30, Katie, 28, India, 22 and son Luca, 17.

The idea sprang from a 'wildly successful' trial run at her daughter's house.  Linda and her daughter prepared food across two weekends for people in the area and the uptake 'went really mad'.

Linda said: "We decided to do it properly and here we are."

Set-up of Hunger Hero is still underway as they prepare for opening date, including counter construction, but Linda says "we are nearly there."

The journey to open their dream joint has been both stressful and enlightening. Linda said: “It has been stressful, to say the least but it is exciting. I have learnt a lot about all things business, so it has been a learning curve.”

The eatery plans a serve an array of breakfast, roast dinners, and lunches on its menu with plenty more options set to be revealed during the menu release soon.

In a bid to appeal to early risers and workers who are on the road in the morning, such as those who work at Sellafield, Hunger Hero will open its doors at 5.30am.

Moreover, the Connors have their sights set on more than just serving good food. Linda said: “We obviously hope it does really well but we are looking at collaborating with Phoenix Enterprise food bank to help people struggle with poverty.”

She continued: "We want it to be a community effort."

With their grand opening just around the corner, the family is looking forward to serving good food to local taste buds and slowly becoming a pillar in the community.

Hunger Hero located in Cleator Moor will open on May 4 at 9am.
