THE Lakeland Festival of Light 2024 will be on 6 April 2024 and will be supporting the Michelle Jurd Trust.

The Lakeland Festival of Light series first took place in 2015 and has raised over £77,500 for various charities.

The event is completely non-profit and money is raised through donations.  Last year, over £10,000 was raised for the Michelle Jurd Trust and has been donated to youth groups and veteran events to improve opportunity and quality of lives.

The money raised from last years event went toward supporting a group of disadvantaged young people from Barrow who went to Southampton and sailed for a week on the tall ships, as well as supporting over 100 veterans who enjoyed an afternoon tea in September to combat loneliness.

On April 6, you do not need a ticket to attend the event, but a donation from everyone attending is expected. Donations can be made in cash on the night, or via the weblink.

Those attending the event will meet at the Rawnsley Centre Car Park in Keswick at 5:30pm, and after an event briefing and a raffle the walk to Catbells will commence. This is a distance of 2.5 miles.

The event will then line Catbells from the top to the bottom as photographs are taken. The evening can often be a cold one, so come prepared with more clothes than you think.

Once the pictures are snapped, those present will descend and walk back to Keswick, with the event wrapping up by about 10pm.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept under control and dog waste is removed from the mountain.
