Kirkby Stephen Auction Mart is to host a H&H Farmer’s First Aid Course, aiming to show farmers how to address typical life-threatening incidents and accidents.

The course is designed to tackle the danger in the agricultural industry which, according to the HSE, has an average of 26 fatal injuries each year.

Lasting three-hours, it will highlight risk management best practices and cover first aid responses to every aspect of farming for farmers and employees alike.

It aims to bolster the knowledge of health and safety and first aid for anyone working within agriculture, potentially saving lives through effective immediate action in the event of a serious accident.

Office manager at Kirkby Stephen Mart, Brenda Armer, stressed the importance of the training, stating: "It is absolutely vital that farmers, and those working on the farm, have a good level of knowledge in terms of health and safety and first aid, as this helps to save lives."

The course's content will address typical farming situations and span across a range of machinery, vehicles, and livestock.

To boost participation, Brenda Armer mentioned: "We have specifically tailored this course to encourage as many farmers as possible to attend."
