A school marked its 30th anniversary with faces old and new celebrating the milestone birthday.

More than 250 people attended the party to mark three decades of Hunter Hall School at Penrith.

Present pupils and their parents attended along with “Old Hunters” – those who have passed through its doors.

There was even the inaugural headmaster, Aidan Warlow, and his then

deputy head, Leslie Moss, present to roll back the years.

Over its 30th year the school has celebrated in a number of ways.

This has included inviting artist Joanne Perry to paint a mural of the school with the children.

There has also been a challenge in the classroom with the theme of ‘30’ – including writing a story in 30 words or researching the names of 30 countries, their locations and capital cities.

The school launched its alumni this year to keep in touch with all past pupils and their families.

But this all came to a head as the party celebrations started with a reception in the school courtyard, where the school choir and band performed.

There was an exhibition of all the school’s memorabilia of years gone by.

This was followed by a vintage afternoon tea and a “bake off” competition.

There were cricket and rounders matches, party games and a bouncy castle and slide.

Head teacher Donna Vinsome said: “The level of interest in the 30th birthday has been humbling.

“Many Old Hunters have been in touch, even if they could not be there on the day, to say what a special school Hunter Hall was and how it really was a stepping stone to launch them onto their next phases of education and careers.”

She thanked all those who helped make the day a success, including the school’s parents group and the staff and children.
