Proposal in Central Park, New York

HOW THEY MET: They met when they started working together in 2009 but didn’t get together until early 2010.

PROPOSAL: In Central Park, New York City, in December 2014.

VENUE: Daffodil Hotel and Spa, Grasmere.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: An ivory and tulle mermaid gown by Stella York worn with an ivory lace appliqué veil, all supplied by Songbird, Keswick.

HAIR & BEAUTY: Hair for bride, bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom was styled by Maria Dockray. Make-up was by Laura Wilkins.

GROOMSMEN: Jamie Moffatt, 30, groom’s best friend, was best man. Graeme O’Dowd, groom’s brother and Kyle Brown, groom’s brother-in-law, were ushers. They wore navy suits with ivory ties hired from Carol Roberts Couture Bridal, Carlisle.

BRIDESMAIDS: Jenna Cartwright, bride’s sister, was chief bridesmaid and Emma Graham, Gemma McCluskey and Amy Bennett Barratt, all best friends, were bridesmaids. They wore turquoise, one shoulder dresses from For Him and For Her. Amy Blacklock, the bride’s cousin, was flower girl.

FLOWERS: A bouquet of pink avalanche roses with white hydrangea trimmed with gypsophila for the bride and bouquets of pink avalanche roses and gypsophila for bridesmaids.

TRANSPORT: Houstons and 3D Travel supplied buses from the bride’s home town of Whitehaven and the groom’s home town of Carlisle, for evening guests.

RECEPTION: 50 guests attended the wedding and afternoon reception with a further 60 guests attending the evening reception.

TABLE SETTINGS: Tall Martini vases with a flower arrangement. Tables were named after favourite places the couple have visited together.

FAVOURS: A donation to Cancer Research and a piece of Grasmere gingerbread.

CAKE: A four-tier cake with pink ribbon and pink sugar roses.

FIRST DANCE: A Thousand Years, Christina Perri.

ENTERTAINMENT: Highly Strung.

HONEYMOON: Las Vegas followed by a road trip to Yosemite National Park and San Francisco then Hawaii.
