The determination and commitment of a Cumbrian teenager has seen her recognised by an award-winning accountancy firm.

Lamont Pridmore’s Business Studies Student of the Year award for 2015 went to Ella Rinder, a sixth form pupil at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School.

Chris Lamont, a partner at the family-run firm, presented the award to Ella at Penrith’s Methodist Church, for her dedication and commitment to business studies.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to have presented this award to Ella.

“Having spoken with her teachers I can see the immense effort and dedication she has put into her business studies course and I am sure she will go on to do great things.”

Alan Hewison, head of economics, business and politics at the school, said Ella worked hard, was keen to do well and showed a real interest in the subject.

“At first, it is fair to say that she struggled at times but was never discouraged and always tried to learn from her mistakes and improve,” he said.

“Prior to the exams she worked even harder and was justly rewarded with a clear grade A.

“Ella deserves the prize for her consistent commitment, work ethic and determination.”

She received a specially commissioned silver salver and also received book tokens to help her with her studies.
