Wigton man arrested after worker crushed by road roller

A 24-year-old man from Wigton has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a west Cumbrian highways worker was crushed beneath a road roller in Carlisle.
The injured man, a 34-year-old from Dearham, remains in Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary, where his condition was yesterday described as comfortable.
The arrested man was bailed until March 16.
