what's Barrow's message to Scottish leader Salmond?

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond told an SNP conference in Perth at the weekend that for Westminster to continue to fund Trident despite other deep spending cuts was "a criminal act".

Mr Salmond, who was making his comments in light of the cuts due to be announced later this week, went on to describe the renewal of Trident as an obscenity.

He said his party stood up for jobs in shipyards.

But he drew the line at Trident.

In his conference speech Mr Salmond is reported as saying:  "We will never desert the cause of unilateral nuclear disarmament. Spending £100bn we do not have on a weapons system we don't need, which takes much needed money from every other budget, is a criminal act. The renewal of trident is an obscenity and this party will continue to oppose it tooth and nail."

Do you agree with Mr Salmond?

What is your message to him?

Have your say

No more Mother England. Colonies are now independent and coping on their own, so why couldn't Scotland do as well? They are in EU, so even more advantageous than say Andorra, San Morino, Lichenstein etc, so why worry?

Having spent thirty years living in Scotland.I honestly think the good people of Scotland can see through this over puffed baloon. He relys on what I call the Mel Gibson vote, the totally inaccurate film Brave fart.At no time has he revealed the state of Scotlands finances and what independence will cost should England withdraw financial aid (we never will).Or where he would try to finance Scotland. The Soviet Block perhaps?
