The week before the walk!
With less than a week until the big day, the nerves have started to show. Preparations for the day are steaming ahead, as we have just come back from our final, long training walk.
With less than a week until the big day, the nerves have started to show. Preparations for the day are steaming ahead, as we have just come back from our final, long training walk.
This Sunday we decided to go for a long walk to Ulverston and back. We travelled through Dalton and into Urswick. At this point we got lost, and had to ask for directions from a local, after another 2miles, we had somehow ended up in Birkrigg common, we were completely oblivious to the fact we had come the wrong way to Ulverston in the first place. However we had experienced lovely scenery and added a few extra miles to our training.
After that we finally found ourselves in Croftlands in Ulverston and decided to head back to Barrow. With a few loud bursts of karaoke from the group we were back into Dalton and final Barrow, where we were worn out and felt nervous about how we were going to tackle the 40 miles we have coming in the next fortnight.
As the K2B is only less than a week away, I’m very nervous about completing it, as the longest i have walked is 20miles! However I’m very excited for the K2B and getting a free burger half way!
For last minute preparations i would recommend wearing worn in shoes, not new ones as they will be more likely to cause blisters. For the walk, water and food is essential, like Chocolate (or something with high energy). Make sure you bring clothes for all weathers, sun cream, hats, and raincoat etc.
I hope all that are participating in this event good luck, and i hope to see you at the finishing line! Thanks for reading, Stephanie Searle.
