This my last blog for the World Cup, after taking a 8 hour flight from Johannesburg to Doha and having to wait 12 hours in Doha Airport before leaving for Heathrow, which took another 10 hours, I am completely knackered.

Looking back on when I left the UK for South Africa on the 8th June, my whole experience has surpassed my expectations.

Reading the report about Johannesburg being one of the dangerous places on earth and generally the whole reputation of South Africa was quite a concern, however after being there for two and a half weeks I can safely say that it was completely different to what I thought.

The cities have all got great characters, especially the portal cities which were fantastic locations.
Along the way I have met some brilliant people from all walks of life and nationalities, and the locals are very really friendly.

It is a shame the football didn't live up to it's potential and the fans where brilliant with absolutely no trouble the fans were a credit to England.

I have to say I am now hooked and will definitely be going to future European and World Cups, so Come on England sort it out.

Thank you Steve !!

....I've enjoyed reading your Blogs, and so have many others, I'm sure.
You did strike a cautious note at first about crime in that part of the world, but the general feedback to the UK has been largely positive. Makes you wonder if there are trouble-makers out there who have it in for the Blacks for daring to take over from once superior counterparts?? Anyway the winners for me are South Africans of all descriptions: the vuvuzelas, the colourful atmosphere and the apparent enjoyment on the faces of spectators, were a privilege to see for us who couldn't make it down to S Africa. Sad to say though the Final was spoilt by too much interferance by the Referee - too quick with his whistle. Unlike the battle for Third and Fourth places by the Germans and Uruguayans which I thought was brilliant. The ref in that game ignored the divers completely and allowed the game flow, and we, as a result, witnessed a brillint game of football. I wasn't surprise at all that Man of the Tournament was Forlan - a great Captain, great Player !! Negative tactics by the Dutch spoilt it for them in the Final, and I had backed them to win !!....never mind, its only a game !!...so, it has been a brilliant summer so far, thanks again to you Steve.
