A man in his 30s is being treated in hospital for serious facial injuries after an assault in west Carlisle.
Police say it happened at about 5am on Saturday in Richmond Green, off Orton Road.
A spokesman said: “We are keen to speak with the driver of a white coloured taxi who is believed to have driven the victim and another man to this area.
“We are keen to trace anyone who saw the victim at the Outrageous nightclub on English Street in Carlisle prior to the incident taking place.
“The victim wore a distinctive blue and red leather jacket with Red Bull motifs displayed on it.”
Police say the victim may have been talking to a group of 10-12 people in the smoking area, outside Outrageous, at about 4am.
The victim remains in the city's Cumberland Infirmary today.
Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
