Staff retention: Long service awards were presented at Longtown haulier Wm Armstrong’s Christmas party. There were 23 awards for 10 years’ service, two awards for 20 years’ service, one for 25 years and one 40-year service award for Eric Simpson of Kirkbride. Eric joined as transport manager in 1972 then became service administra-tion manager.
