The former Blue Peter action girl wed Super League rugby star Richie Myler in a ceremony at St Michael's Church in Kirkby Thore, near Penrith.
About 100 people in her home village headed out on a wintry day to wish her well.
Earlier this week, Helen said she had been overwhelmed with good wishes ahead of the big day and thanked all those who are helping with the final preparations.
Helen, 30, tweeted: “In awe of [how] helpful my friends, family and community are being about the wedding. They have sorted stuff I haven’t thought of!”
Helen, who now fronts BT Sport, walked down the aisle with Warrington star Myler, who she has been with since 2011.
Close pals Brenda and Barry Thompson, who run the village post office, told The Cumberland News earlier this week how they couldn’t wait for what promises to be the wedding of the year...in Kirkby Thore.
They said: “Obviously we have followed Helen very closely and she has always been very kind to everyone in the village.
“If anyone has asked her to do anything or appear at any function here she’s always obliged. She’s a lovely girl from a lovely family and we’re all very pleased for her.
“She has done great things over the years and is a great ambassador for the area.
“Helen often pops into the shop and is so down to earth. The wedding has been the talk of the village and we will definitely walk past the church and wish her well.
“She could have had the wedding in some big place but to have it here shows what she’s like – she still has her feet on the ground.”
Children at Helen’s old primary school couldn’t contain their excitement at the prospect of the local girl turned TV star returning to the village – hopefully with some showbiz pals in tow.
Emma Flint, 10, said: “I’m going to watch her go into the church and can’t wait to see all her dresses.”
Rachel Mallinson, 10, added: “She came to the school last year and gave us all Blue Peter badges.
“I can’t wait to see her wedding dress and I’m looking forward to tying the gates, which is when the groom has to throw money over so we can let them out.”
Callum Cowin and Jake Cropper, both nine, weren’t quite as excited as the girls about the wedding but are big fans of Helen and Richie.
Jake said: “She’s a kind, nice person and is very talented and sporty.
“She has walked across a tightrope, sailed across the Amazon and gone to the North Pole – it makes me want to be like her when I’m older.
“My family are good friends with hers and we pop round and see them quite often when they’re here.
“I’ve even played rugby with Richie. He’s really good at it.”
Callum said: “We all want to say congratulations to them both, good luck, and hope you have a good time.”
Rachel added: “And we hope you bring lots of your celebrity friends with you – Ed Sheeran is my favourite!”
Christine Wilson, head teacher of Kirkby Thore Primary School, said Helen’s mother Janet, who runs the pre-school next door, and the rest of the family can’t wait for the big day.
She added: “The family are all excited and have been really busy.
“The whole village will come down to watch the bride and groom come out of the church.
“We are absolutely delighted they are getting married here – Helen is a big part of the community and has always supported the village and this is another way she is doing just that.”
