Last updated at 08:54, Friday, 25 January 2013
A trial date has been set for the boss of two waste management companies charged with illegally dumping waste.
Appearing at Carlisle Crown Court was Richard James Allan, 43, of Lanercost Road, Brampton, who runs Brampton Skip Hire Ltd and Kingmoor Park-based North West Recycling.
The court heard that he and his two companies, as corporate defendants, are facing a total of 39 charges. The allegations relate to the recycling activities of the two companies and Allan at a number of sites in Cumbria.
Allan, who is a director of the two company defendants, spoke only to confirm his name.
He entered no pleas and Judge Peter Davies ruled that the case should be set down for trial in the week beginning October 28.
The case – said to be legally complex – is expected to last for three to four weeks.
