Cumbrian police officer admits passing on confidential information

A policeman has admitted abusing his position by passing on confidential information stored on Cumbria Constabulary’s computers.

PC Peter Forster, 48, of Longtown Road, Brampton, appeared at the city’s Crown Court on data protection and misconduct charges.

The married officer – who worked in the Currock and Upperby area of Carlisle until he was suspended as a result of the investigation into his activities – pleaded guilty to knowingly disclosing confidential information held by the police.

Forster was remanded on bail and is due to appear before the court again on October 18.
