Carlisle judge issues warning over ‘bare-chested’ yobs fighting

A judge warned of the impact of “bare-chested” yobs attacking each other after two men admitted their part in a street row.

Judge Gerald Chalk said Andrew David Cully and Nathaniel Storey, both 23, had gone “too far” after an argument with another group.

Carlisle magistrates heard that Cully’s girlfriend was attacked by the group in Carlisle city centre on November 4. There was a conviction for this assault.

Cully, of Wilson Street, off Newtown Road, Carlisle, and Storey, of Brookside, Raffles, Carlisle, admitted using threatening words or behaviour.

Judge Gerald Chalk said: “Bare-chested men trying to run into each other and punch people in the head makes people not want to come into Carlisle city centre at night.”

Both were given a six-week curfew and a 12-month community order.
