Runners burning up calories will get the chance to put some straight back on - with a cake on the finishing line.

The race in question will take place near Penrith next month for the third year running.

The Stoneybeck 10k is being held on Sunday, September 24 at 10am.

This year's race will be sponsored by Cumbrian firm Traybakes Ltd. And everyone who finishes the run will receive a slice of tray bake cake.

Justine Carruthers, managing director of Traybakes Ltd, said: "We were really delighted to support such a well-organised and friendly event in Cumbria.

"As a keen runner myself, and a member of Eden Runners, the 10k distance is attainable and attracts a wide variety of people, making it a very popular and enjoyable event."

An all butter flapjack and a new granola bar will be given to runners on the day.

The news of a Traybakes bar, for all runners in the race, was announced at a recent club training event at Hallin Fell.

Wade Tidbury, race director for the Stoneybeck 10k, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be hosting this race for the third year in succession.

"With it now becoming a regular event, runners have it in their calendar, and we are hoping that all 200 places will fill up before race day."
