Colin Jackson's 1934 Ford proved a talking point for visitors to the Classic Cars in the Park show at Hutton in the Forest.

Despite having no experience, the self-taught mechanic has stripped and rebuilt the vehicle and now shows it across the area.

The Aspatria man, who was at Sunday's show near Penrith with wife Joanne, said its distinctive paintwork - inspired by designs made famous in 1950s California - always draws people in.

"We do take it out a lot. Every time I stop at a filling station it usually takes about an hour because people will come over to talk about it," he said.

"We go to all the shows - Dalemain, Grasmere, Silloth.

"It's just a hobby - I'm a heating engineer by trade."

Now in its 14th year, the show takes place under the backdrop of Hutton Hall.

This year proved a huge success, with the sunny weather boosting numbers and prompting organisers to extend the show area to accommodate all the late entries.

Also there was Tebay's Ernie Potter, with his white Reliant Robin 3.

He said it was one of two found in a barn, which he bought and restored.

"It was five years ago. I bought them both. The other is yellow but this one was white so I left it white," he said.

"I'm retired so this is my hobby. I've had classics before and sold them, but more tractors than cars.

"I've been to this show before but this is the first time I've exhibited. I've really enjoyed it."

The event - organised by well-known show host Mark Woodward, of Silloth - attracted both hardcore motoring enthusiasts as well as families and those just looking for a different day out.

It featured classic cars, light commercials, vintage vans, tractors, motorcycles and classic Land Rovers, as well as an arena with commentary, auto jumble and trade stands.
