Carlisle United captain Danny Grainger has been leading the way in the battle against dementia.
The popular footballer started the Alzheimer's Society's Memory Walk in the city.
The fundraiser, which started and finished in Bitts Park, is also vital for raising awareness about the cause.
There was a strong turnout on Sunday, with many of those taking part having moving personal reasons for supporting the cause.
Penrith-born Danny said: “So much has been done to raise awareness of the fight against dementia recently, and I’m pleased that I’m able to play a small part in that now. So many people are affected, either directly or indirectly.”
There are an estimated 850,000 people in the UK living with dementia, 8,000 of them in Cumbria. Meanwhile, the national figure is set to top one million by 2021.
The Memory Walk has become a popular fixture on Carlisle's fundraising calendar.
