The Home Bargains chain says it has invested about £500,000 in the shop in Penrith.
The new store, on Ullswater Road, also features a 6,200 sq ft garden centre.
The event will feature a special appearance from children’s favourite Stuart the Minion, from the hit films Minions and Despicable Me.
He will arrive at 11am. The store will be officially opened at 8.30am.
This will be the first Home Bargains store to open in Penrith and it joins more than 400 outlets across the UK.
Joe Morris, the operations director at Home Bargains, spoke ahead of the opening.
He said: “We’re thrilled to be launching our first store in Penrith and look forward to welcoming new customers through the doors.”
The store will offer shoppers a range of products.
These include homewares, health and beauty goods, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food.
Mr Morris added: “Ullswater Road will be a great location for us.”
