A unique calendar featuring Cumbrian mums stripped down to their underwear in a series of locations around the county will raise money for a seven-year-old boy with a rare brain tumour.

The plight of Jaxon Currie is inspiring 20 women to brave the elements to create images depicting a mother’s work, a mother’s love and her day-to-day challenges. One of Jaxon’s teddy bears will feature in every shot.

One mother will be captured vacuuming on a Derwentwater jetty, while another will be hanging washing on top of a Lake District fell.

Jaxon, who lives in Carlisle, has a rare hypothalamic hamartoma brain tumour.

It is hoped that as well as raising awareness of his condition, it will also raise money so that he and his family can enjoy experiences and create memories to cherish.

One mum, Siobhan Brewster, said: “The idea behind the calendar was while trying to support the Currie family and raise funds to create beautiful memories for them, the images would tell a story... that no matter what our body image fears are, internal or external scars, lumps, bumps and wobbly bits, we have beautiful bodies that can achieve great things.

“We want to celebrate what we have, grab life with both hands and cherish the beautiful world around us.”

The scenes will be shot over a number of days.

The calendar will go on sale in November at a number of venues including Roseberry Floral Design in Dalston; Suziebou of Dalston; WCF Carlisle, Tourist Information in Carlisle’s Old Town Hall and Arragon’s Cycles in Penrith.
