A professional dancer from Cumbria performed a Charleston for Strictly Come Dancing’s head judge.

Jenny Patrone (CORR) took to the stage as part of Len Goodman’s Tea for Two , a glitzy London event at the capital’s Waldorf Hilton Hotel in aid of Children in Need.

She was one of four in a line up of dancers known as the Gatsby Girls, a performance group she co-runs with two friends.

The 1920s-themed London-based group, who performed at Glastonbury this summer, work closely with the Piccadilly Dance Orchestra, which suggested they performed at the event.

Stars from Strictly Come Dancing were also part of the line-up.

The Gatsby Girls, who formed four years ago, not only sing and dance but stay in character all night.

They mingled with guests and enjoyed afternoon tea.

“We do quite a lot of events and a lot of charity balls and stuff where we are lucky enough to be a part of things where celebrities are involved.

“It was really nice because it was for Children in Need.

“It was a lovely atmosphere and Len was so lovely. He was really welcoming and a great host for the afternoon as well,” said Jenny, 33, a former Trinity School pupil.

“He was as he is on the TV. He comes across as a really genuine guy and great to be around.”

Jenny, of Stanwix, Carlisle, who now lives and works in London, trained with Cumbria Dance from the age of about three to 16.

Debbie Marper, who owns and runs Cumbria Dance, was thrilled for Jenny.

She said: “I’m dead proud of her.

“Her commitment and her energy: she’s never stopped going and never stopped learning.

“She deserves everything that comes to her.”

Alongside the Gatsby Girls, Jenny runs CBS Dance, a training programme for professional actors and singers who want to improve their dance skills, and is audition choreographer for Disney Cruises and Disneyland Paris.

Jenny emigrated to Australia when she was 16 and went into professional performance training in Melbourne.

She’s toured various countries with shows before moving to London six years ago.
