Hundreds of people lined the streets of Appleby today to show their appreciation for our soldiers.
The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment 2nd Battalion marched from Appleby Castle the short way to the Market Square before a thanksgiving service.
The parade marked the infantry unit's return home from oversees duties in Iraq where they protected engineers training the Iraqi forces.
Pauline Falconer's son Colour Sergeant Martin Sharp, 34, was among those in the parade.
She said: "I'm very proud of him for what he has done and where he has come from.
"They have all done well. I'm proud of them."
