Roadworks will take place next week on another of Carlisle’s busiest roads.

Stretches of Brampton Road will be closed from Monday as a £70,000 resurfacing project gets underway.

The project is the latest in a string of resurfacing and improvement schemes taking place across the city.

Work started this week on a potential six-week project to install a toucan crossing at Caldcotes, off Caldewgate.

There has also been night-time work for resurfacing on Scotland Road.

The Brampton Road resurfacing will take place on the stretch between Stanwix Bank and the University of Cumbria campus.

That means the road will be closed from Stanwix Bank to the Well Lane and Rickerby Park junctions from Monday until Wednesday, though access will be maintained to Well Lane and Rickerby Park.

On Thursday and Friday, the road will be closed between Stanwix Bank and the university entrance.

There will be no access to the campus, Well Lane or Rickerby Park at that time.

Diversions will be in place via junction 44 of the M6 and the A7 along Scotland and Kingstown roads.
