Little chefs showed off their skills in the kitchen when they made jam tarts at Brampton Community Centre.

The group of toddlers and their mums made the tasty treats at a weekly session which has been launched for families, following the opening of the new soft play area earlier this year.

"We've got a lot of different groups going on for toddlers and parents," Pat Bowman, front of house and activities co-ordinator at the community centre, said.

"We haven't been having the sessions for that long, but we're hoping that they're going to be popular with families."

Ella Hage, who lives in Brampton, brought her three-year-old son Henry to the session. "We missed the first one, but we were keen to come along," she told The Cumberland News.

"We've come along to the community centre quite a bit since the soft play area opened and I think we'll be back to take part in more cooking activities.

"We do quite a bit of cooking at home as well, the children seem to love it so to be able to come down here and do it as well is great."
