At just four years old, little Oscar Lund has already decided that he wants to help those in need.

In July this year the youngster, from Cummersdale, saw first-hand the exploits of Natalia Spencer.

The mum, from Bristol, is walking 6,000 miles around the UK in memory of her daughter Elizabeth and is trying to raise £100,000 for the city’s Children’s Hospital.

Oscar’s parents, Louise and Donna, invited Natalia to stay with them as she made her way north. It was then that Oscar said he wanted to help.

“After he met Natalia, he said he wanted to do a bike ride so he could raise money for her,” Donna said.

“We encouraged him to do it and together we did a bike ride from home up to Dalston and back, which is about 6.4 miles.”

Donna and Louise said that they had hoped Oscar would be able to raise £200 for The Grand Appeal – the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity. “We’ve gone past that, so we’re really pleased,” Donna added.

Oscar said: “I wanted to help sick children. I wanted to raise some money.

“My bike’s green and it has monsters on it. I went really fast.”

Louise said that both she and Donna will be encouraging Oscar to do more fundraising as he grows up.
