TWO well-known faces were among the crowds at a Cumbrian auction.

H&H Auction Rooms welcomed Antique Road Trip’s Anita Manning and Philip Serrell at the regular Monday sale.

The pair joined more than 100 bidders as they filmed their popular BBC2 TV series.

Of the 700 lots up for grabs, eight were being sold under the watchful eye of Philip and the ever excitable Anita.

They arrived at H&H Auction Rooms having covered many miles of the local countryside in their faithful Fiat 500.

Stephen Farthing, H&H auction room manager, said: “It was very exciting having two such noted celebrities from the antiques business join our busy crowd.

“Hopefully Philip and Anita will have made their money back. It will be exciting to see the programme when it is aired to find out which was the winner.”

Items sold included Masonic items, dolls’ furniture, a retro lounge cabinet, cufflinks and an embossing stamp.

After the morning sale, Philip and Anita toured Cumbria buying goods at Keswick and Cockermouth to be auctioned at Kendal at a later date. The programme will be broadcast by the BBC in the new year.
