Man denies stabbing girlfriend in Penrith

A man has appeared at Carlisle Crown Court accused of stabbing his girlfriend in Penrith.
Gheorghita Valentin Toma, 32, was arrested after Ramona Agneta Stoichescu was injured in an incident in Alexandra Road, Penrith, on November 18 last year.
Toma, a Romanian national who has no fixed address in this country, denied wounding Ms Stoichescu with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm.
He was remanded in custody until his trial in the last week of April.
