These are officially Cumbria’s most enterprising teenagers.

This team from Wigton’s Nelson Thomlinson School won the top prize at the county’s Young Enterprise Awards.

A 13-strong team of year 12 students took the winning company accolade after designing their own revision guide for GCSE economics along with a smartphone app which could be used alongside the book.

Their idea was praised by judges during the final, which was held at Carlisle’s Crown and Mitre Hotel.

They will now move forward to Young Enterprise’s north east and Cumbria finals, which will be held in Gateshead next month.

Stephanie Walker, a business and economics teacher who is also the centre leader for Young Enterprise at Nelson Thomlison, said: “They were given a lot of praise by the judges, who said that they’d found a gap in the market.

“The team have worked extremely hard on the project but a special mention has to go to Amy Renyard, who has been managing director for the project and has done very well in bringing things together.”
