There are just two weeks left to get your entries in for the 2016 Golden Apple awards.

As the end of term fast approaches, now is the time to nominate your learning heroes.

The CN Group Education and Learning Awards want to recognise the achievements of those who have made significant contributions or have excelled over the course of this academic year. A range of categories will reward individuals, with section for learners, apprentices and professionals across all areas of education and skills training.

Those who work behind the scenes in support roles are also championed as are education leaders.

Community groups, sport clubs and volunteers can be honoured in the award for youth category. Training providers and employers who strive to prepare young people for the world of work or help develop vital students’ “work ready” skills can also be nominated.

A lifetime achievement award will be presented at this year’s gala dinner at Carlisle Racecourse in October.

The closing date for entries is July 22 and judging takes place in the summer.

Marie Whitehead, who is chairing the judging panel, said: “We have been delighted with the entries to date, and the task of judging this year’s awards looks like it is going to be a difficult one.

“Don’t miss the opportunity to nominate teachers, schools, apprentices and school workers to make sure they get the recognition they deserve.”

The Golden Apple awards – supported by Inspira and the University of Cumbria – are free to enter and anyone can submit nominations.

The awards aim to recognise excellence and achievements in all fields of education, skills and learning.
