Invitations to this year’s Golden Apple awards have been dropping into letterboxes across Cumbria.

Finalists who have been shortlisted in the 19 different categories of the 2015 CN Group Education and Learning Awards have been sent invitations for the gala dinner where the winners will be revealed.

The evening takes place at Carlisle Racecourse on October 2.

Award categories include learner of the year, teacher of the year, lifetime achievement, and sporting achievement.

The annual awards honouring the area’s education, training and skills heroes are again supported by the University of Cumbria and personal development and information and guidance organisation Inspira.

A host of other bodies are also supporting this year’s awards.

They are Lakes College at Lillyhall near Workington, law firm Burnetts, Britain’s Energy Coast, Furness College, social housing organisation Riverside, and construction group ESH.
