Lisa Blacklock, 37, cluster manager and Simon Hughes, 46, commissioning engineer, live in Maryport.

HOW THEY MET: They met in 2010 when their sons played football together in Maryport and started dating in 2013.

PROPOSAL: Simon proposed first thing on the morning of Valentine’s Day last year in the Lowry, Manchester. Lisa turned around after opening her card which said “To my fiancée” and Simon was down on one knee with the ring. They celebrated at the Quill restaurant in Manchester.

VENUE: Three Hills Barn, Torpenhow. They were the first couple to be married there as the venue had just received its wedding licence.

THEME: A rustic theme with Paris additions and navy blue and spice colours.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: The bride wore an ivory and lace cafe lustre satin gown by Stella York with a pearl and diamante belt and an Ivory & Co. head-dress. All were supplied by Songbird Bridal in Keswick. She also wore navy blue Jimmy Choo shoes to complement the suits worn by the groomsmen. The shoes and a diamond bracelet were bought for her by the groom.
Diamond and white gold earrings were delivered to her on the morning of the wedding as a gift from the groom and were purchased from Beaverbrooks in Newcastle.

HAIR & BEAUTY: Hair was done by Kimberly Clark and beauty by Hannah from Bright and Beautiful of Gek in Maryport and make-up was done by Jessica Dodd of Cockermouth.

GROOMSMEN: David Brown, a close friend of the groom, was best man. The groom and best man wore Ted Baker lounge lizard suits from Moss Bros, Newcastle, with accessories provided by Swagger and Swoon. The male attendants were the bride’s son Cieran and the groom’s sons Cameron and Ally. They wore matching waistcoats, trousers and shoes with accessories from Swagger and Swoon.

BRIDESMAIDS: Nicola Scholey, a close friend of the bride, was maid of honour. The bride’s daughter, Chloe, and niece Laura, were bridesmaids and wore full-length chiffon dresses in spice from Dessy supplied by Blush Bridal, Whitehaven. Alterations were done by Donna Hadden, Maryport.

RINGS: An 18ct white gold band with square cut diamonds from Ernest Jones, Carlisle, for the bride. She had a palladium cut ring made at Beadle & Hill of Carlisle for the groom.

FLOWERS: A bouquet of stephanotis, spray roses, astilbe, lisianthus, gypsophila and foliage for the bride and two arrangements in milk churns to match were done by Joanne Ashbrook Flowers. She also provided gypsophila buttonholes for the groom and his attendants and gypsophila bunches for the bride’s attendants.

TRANSPORT: A black Hummer with spice ribbon from Excalibur Wedding Cars and buses from Hobans of Workington.

RECEPTION: A reception for 90 guests at Three Hills Barn, Torpenhow, with cocktails.

TABLE SETTINGS: Milk churns with moss and fir cones on log plinths made by the bride with names corresponding to areas and hotels where they have stayed in Paris. Place settings were acorns with name tags and moss made by the bride and maid of honour, all placed on hessian runners. The venue was made more special with a photo booth wall, signs and props made by the bride and groom and others hired from Jane Donaldson at I Do Cumbria Wedding Hire together with seat covers and sashes from Balloontastic.

FAVOURS: Mason jars with spirit and mixers all put together by the bride and maid of honour and Mint to be mints made by the bride and groom.

CATERING: Stone House Smokey Fantastic caterer provided hog roast and sides on palm leaf plates. Shills of Cockermouth made a savoury cheesecake and Liz’s Country Kitchen provided beautiful cakes.

CAKE: A three-tier cake by Trine’s Cakes which was designed to look like logs to match the logs in the barn setting.

FIRST DANCE: Follow Through, Gavin McGraw.

ENTERTAINMENT: Joel, the magician, kept the guests entertained during the day. Leroy Johnston and the Flicks also performed.

HONEYMOON: The honeymoon began at L’Enclume, Cartmel, the couple’s favourite restaurant, followed by a visit to their favourite city – Paris – then Rome for a Mediterranean cruise.

OTHER DETAILS: The bride entered to A Thousand Years, Christina Perry and the couple signed the register to All of Me, John Legend. The night before the wedding the bride and her attendants spent the night at the Melbreak Hotel, Great Clifton.
