Claire Johns, 26, caterer, and Andrew Green, 27, courier driver, live in Carlisle

HOW THEY MET: On a night out in Carlisle in August 2008 and, although they kept in touch, they didn’t become a couple until March 2009.

PROPOSAL: Andy proposed to Claire on February 14, 2011 after going out for a meal. It came as a complete shock to Claire who thought it was a usual Valentine’s meal and to celebrate the birth of their daughter in January.

VENUE: St James’ Church, Denton Holme, Carlisle.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: The bride wore a L’amour fishtail gown with beading and skirt that flared out below the knee into a train overlaid with lace.

GROOMSMEN: Karl Hill, groom’s friend, was best man. Matt Green, groom’s brother, and Sean Dixon, groom’s friend, were ushers. All wore slate grey herringbone tailcoat jackets with matching trousers and Bronte waistcoats. The groom wore a lilac cravat and the groomsmen wore pink cravats. All from Greenwoods, Carlisle.

BRIDESMAIDS: Cat Hermeston, bride’s best friend; Lauren and Kelly Johns, bride’s sisters; Danielle Green, groom’s sister and Catherine Jefferson, bride’s cousin, were bridesmaids. Imogen Green, the bride and groom’s daughter and Olivia and Sophie Hermeston, daughters of the bridesmaid Cat, were flower girls. The bridesmaids wore floor-length gold Champagne lace dresses with sequin detail and matching gold shoes from Shillas and the flower girls wore blush pink dresses with butterfly detail and matching shoes from BHS.

FLOWERS: A hand-tied bouquet of sweet avalanche and cream avalanche roses, lisianthus, carnations and astilbe for the bride. The bridesmaids carried smaller versions and the flower girls carried sparkly flower wands, all from Oopsie Daisy Flowers and Gifts, Carlisle.

TRANSPORT: An ivory Beauford for the bride and white Daimler limousine for the bridesmaids. Both from Cumbria Classic Wedding Cars.

RECEPTION: An afternoon reception was held at Carlisle Racecourse with an evening reception attended by more guests with a buffet, disco, photobooth, children’s corner and sweet table.

TABLE SETTINGS: Tall Martini glasses supplied by Oopsie Daisy Flower and Gifts, with lilac, white and pink pomanders with crystal and brooch detail made by the groom’s mother.

FAVOURS: Homemade oat biscuits in a mixture of white and pink butterfly boxes with pink organza bags containing an After Eight mint and a personalised bride and groom bottle opener.

CAKE: A four-tier white vanilla sponge with pink butterfly detail sprinkled with glitter with a gold Mr and Mrs topper.

FIRST DANCE: Everything I Do, I Do It For You, Bryan Adams.

ENTERTAINMENT: Disco, live singer and photobooth, all supplied by Shoot2fame Entertainments.
