HOW THEY MET: In 2003 while studying at university in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

PROPOSAL: Richard was working away in the New Year of 2014 and surprised Natalie with a weekend away in Windermere. They were playing Scrabble and Natalie pulled a ring out of the bag containing the tiles. As a reminder of the moment there were Scrabble-related items at the wedding.

STAG & HEN CELEBRATIONS: The stags spent a weekend in London. The hens ran the 5km park run at Keswick then went on a fell walk up Skiddaw. They then went by train to Newcastle and had a screening of her favourite film, Dirty Dancing.

VENUE: A civil ceremony in The Hayloft at New House Farm, Lorton, followed by garden games such as giant jenga and croquet.

THEME: Rustic countryside.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A vintage-style lace dress created by Essence of Australia from Angelica Bridal, London worn with a short veil to show the detail on the back of the dress.

HAIR & BEAUTY: The bride’s hair and make-up was done by Anne Sorbie of Kendal. She also did the bridesmaids’ and mother of the bride’s hair.

GROOMSMEN: Matthew Hayes, groom’s school friend, and Blake Irvine, university friend, were best men. Christopher and Jonathan Brown, groom’s brothers, were ushers. They wore blue morning suits hired from Moss Bros. They all wore buttonholes with blue cornflowers to match the bridal bouquets.

BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s three sisters, Laura, Imogen and Verity Sharpe, were bridesmaids and wore full-length dresses in cornflower blue from the Charlotte range created by Maids-to-Measure, London.

RINGS: The couple were living in Birmingham when they were planning their wedding so chose their rings from Samson Gold in the city’s Jewellery Quarter. The bride chose a twist wedding band and the groom opted for a matching platinum court-shaped wedding band.

FLOWERS: The bouquets were composed of blue hydrangeas, yellow roses, cornflowers and yellow freesias. All supplied by Floral Boutique, Cockermouth who also provided table settings, buttonholes, a small arrangement for the top of the cake and decoratations for The Hayloft.

TRANSPORT: John Hoban of Workington provided guests with transport to and from the venue.

RECEPTION: A Champagne and canapé reception in the gardens of New House Farm followed by a wedding breakfast for 80 guests.

TABLE SETTINGS: The centrepieces were created from log slices from a Penrith sawmill.

FAVOURS: Heart-shaped paper embedded with seeds in cream boxes with a wooden heart engraved with the day’s details.

CATERING: Karen Rhodes of Grange.

CAKE: A three-tier chocolate cake with white icing from Marks & Spencer plus a decorated fruit cake and a rum cake made by family friends.

FIRST DANCE: Let’s Stay Together sung by The Mayfields.

ENTERTAINMENT: The Mayfields – a Manchester based band and a DJ set from one of the groom’s friends.

HONEYMOON: Thailand.
