HOW THEY MET: At St Joseph’s School, Workington through the bride’s brother who was best friends with the groom.

PROPOSAL: At the top of a ferris wheel which was quite an achievement as Simon is scared of heights!

VENUE: Our Lady & St Michael’s Church, Banklands, Workington.

THEME: Christmas as the wedding was held on December 23, 2016.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: Abigail wore a Diane Harbridge Vancouver dress worn with a floor-length veil and pearl and diamanté tiara supplied by Blush Bridal, Whitehaven.

GROOMSMEN: Adam Main, bride’s brother, was best man and the ushers were Daniel Main, bride’s brother; Timothy Ashbridge, groom’s friend and Matthew Welsh, groom’s brother-in-law. Freddie Welsh, groom’s nephew, and Reece McWalters, were pageboys.

BRIDESMAIDS: Ashleigh Bond and Jessica Lee, both bride’s friends, were chief bridesmaid and bridesmaid respectively. They wore red, floor-length dresses with diamanté detail, from Bridal House, Maryport. Isabella Welsh, groom’s niece, and Tilly Grima, were flower girls and wore ivory lace dresses with fur shawls from Debenhams.

HAIR & BEAUTY: Hair by Lorrae Marie and make-up by Solo of Workington.

FLOWERS: A large shower bouquet of red and cream roses with diamantés for the bride with matching posies for the bridesmaids. All from Elaine Forrester of Forrester Flowers of Mealsgate. The groomsmen wore red rose buttonholes.

TRANSPORT: A blue Beauford Tourer and a black and cream Daimler Landaulette both from A Touch of Class for the wedding party and buses supplied by J B Pickthalls for the guests.

RECEPTION: An afternoon reception with Christmas dinner for 98 guests at Whitehaven Golf Club with an evening reception for 200 guests.

TABLE SETTINGS: For the afternoon reception martini vases were filled with cream and red roses by Elaine Forrester. Chair covers of red chiffon with lace overtop and pearl brooches were supplied by Pamela Nicholson Bell. The evening reception was decorated with lanterns and Christmas berries.

FAVOURS: Candy canes and kissing bells. Father Christmas brought selection boxes for the children.

CATERING: Whitehaven Golf Club.

CAKE: A six-tier ivory cake with crystal pillars on a cake sleigh by Trines.

FIRST DANCE: The One, Kodaline for the bride and groom followed by Daddy’s Angel, T Carter for the bride and her dad.

ENTERTAINMENT: Collision.

HONEYMOON: New York.

VIDEOGRAPHER: Pro Cam.

FURTHER INFORMATION: The couple were married as Storm Barbara hit Cumbria. A piper came from Scotland to pipe at the church.
