History: Opened in late December, the cafe is named after one of the owner’s pet cockapoos – Jasper and Dodge. The coffee shop has a dog-themed menu where most of the food is named after famous dogs.
It is bright and welcoming with a combination of trendy light fixtures, wood crates and colourful dog prints by artist Leanne Warren.
As you’d guess, the four-legged friends are made to feel as welcome as the paying customers with treats and water readily supplied.

Style of food: Jasper’s is a coffee shop that prides itself on a very high standard of coffee and loose-leaf teas.
It offers a wide range of breakfasts, light lunches and snacks throughout the day. All of the scones, sausage rolls, quiches, soups and cakes are home-made. Selections of vegetarian and gluten free options are available.

Menu sample: Breakfasts include the St Bernard, a large, delicious classic Lakes breakfast of bacon, sausage, mushroom, egg, beans, tomatoes and toast (£7.50). A vegetarian option, The Great Dane, is available also.
The Old Yeller features local free-range eggs served in a delicious soft white or brown roll (£3.80) other dishes include crushed avocado on two slices of toast (£4); the King Cav, smoked salmon and scrambled free range eggs on white bagel (£6.50) and the Snoopy, fresh American-style pancakes served with bacon and maple syrup (£6).
The lunch range includes the Marley, a halloumi and chorizo combo with chilli jam served in a pitta with a side salad (£6.80); The Littlest Hobo, homemade sausage rolls (with or without chilli jam), served with hand cooked crisps and coleslaw (£3.50); sharing platters such as the Dog Tanian platter with chorizo, ham, Italian meats, with chilli jam, onion chutney, salad and a baguette (£11) and the Cheeky Chihauau a plate of nachos, melted mature cheddar cheese, guacamole, salsa and jalapenos.

Cakes include New York cheesecake, lemon drizzle cake, a gluten-free chocolate brownie, fruit scones and Victoria sponge.
