Eaglesfield Paddle, Cockermouth, successfully defended their title when they won the 9th Annual Sands/Centre News & Star Junior Schools’ five-a-side tournament at the Sands Centre on Saturday.
They beat Holm Cultram 2-0 in a keenly-contested final.
The Cockermouth side defeated Scotby and Robert Ferguson in a three-way round-robin semi-final in the morning, while Holm Cultram, Abbeytown, beat North Lakes (Penrith) and Kingmoor (Carlisle) in the afternoon semi-final.
The final, between two of the top teams in west Cumbria, didn’t disappoint, Paddle’s finishing skills proving to be the key ingredient in their success.
