Carlisle Utd's Peter Murphy to auction his winning Wembley shirt

Carlisle United defender Peter Murphy is putting the shirt he wore when he scored the winning goal at Wembley up for auction.
The Irishman will auction the jersey he sported when United beat Brentford 1-0 in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in April last year.
Murphy, who had become a dad just hours earlier, scored in the 12th minute to secure Carlisle’s victory.
His shirt will be auctioned at a charity dinner dance on Friday night at the Shepherds Inn at Rosehill, Carlisle.
The event is the last in a series organised as part of Murphy’s testimonial year at Brunton Park.
Murphy, 31, said: “It’s going to be a great night and I’ve got lots of things organised during the evening.
“There will be a magician, some dancers, a band called Room 101, a singer and an auction.
“Items being auctioned on the night include my winning Wembley jersey – the one I wore when I scored last year and a black and white picture of me drawn by CUFC legend John Gorman.”
Murphy, who is reaching the end of his benefit year after a decade with the Blues, has pledged to donate a percentage of the evening to the Marie Keating Foundation. He chose the charity – set up in honour of singer Ronan Keating’s mother – because he knows friends and neighbours who have been touched by cancer.
During the course of this year he has hosted a sportsman’s dinner, a children’s fun day, a golf day and a testimonial football match.
Murphy brought together a host of former Carlisle players from the 1990s, 2000s and the current vintage, with 2,546 supporters turning out for the Dubliner.
He said: “I have really enjoyed all of the events. It really has been great. The testimonial game was great because so many people came back for it and I was lucky with the weather.
“It has been quite hectic at times organising everything as well as trying to arrange my wedding for next year and looking after our young son, Oscar, who is now 19 months, but overall it’s been great.
“I’d love to do it all again to celebrate my 20 years with the club but I’m not sure my legs will hold out that long,” he said, joking.
Tickets for the event are £30 or £300 for a table of 10. To get them, email email@example.com or call 07824 905472.
