Carlisle revenge yob got the wrong house

A man who smashed two windows with a baseball bat in retaliation for an assault on his sister had targeted the wrong house.
In fact Kevin Walker, of Carliol Drive, Harraby, Carlisle, had vandalised the home of a man who had actually tried to help her, Carlisle Crown Court heard.
Walker, 35, had already been convicted for the offences of being in possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage.
He appeared before Recorder John Bromley-Davenport for sentencing.
Prosecutor Alison Whalley said that Walker was enraged when he found out his sister had been beaten up at a party.
His temper was made worse by the fact he mistakenly thought police were not prepared to press charges. But in reality it was his sister who did not want to take the matter further.
Walker went to where he thought the party had been held – a house on Holywell Crescent.
He ended up smashing two ground floor windows with a baseball bat.
Unbeknown to Walker, he was at the wrong address.
The occupant was Guy Moffat – a man who had been at the party and attempted to look after his sister.
Defence solicitor Mark Bell told the court his client was full of remorse.
Mr Bell added: “He totally lost control and I think that is understandable given the injuries suffered by his sister.
“He now accepts that Mr Moffat had been trying to help the girl.”
Recorder Bromley-Davenport told him that although he was not going to prison, his behaviour had been ‘absolutely appalling’ and needed to be punished.
Walker was sentenced to 100 hours of community service and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £340, plus £100 compensation for the broken windows.
