A former forensics officer with Cumbria police has been appointed imaging business manager for Topcon Europe.
Jon Skelton already works for the Japanese multinational, which makes optical and electronic instruments for use in medicine, surveying and construction. He joined the company in 2010, a year after leaving the force.
In his new role, he will be responsible for promoting the company in the specialist field of 3D data capture, including laser scanning.
Mr Skelton joined Cumbria Constabulary in 1974 and worked in Penrith, Barrow, Hawkshead and Appleby. He still lives in Penrith with his partner Rebekah.
He formed the forensic collision investigation unit, which he led for 17 years.
